Digg App Reviews

Couldnt leave well enough alone

I was a big fan of app before they redesigned it. It was simple and elegant and enjoyable. Ive tried living the updated app, but its just a mess. Frequently crashes, hangs when loading stories, has a terrible UI with gaudy blue icons and 2(?) loading icons that are confusing and obnoxious. Wish I could go back. Still not much better than this going forward, but instead of a good experience, now it feels more like settling.

Crashes

Uses to be good, latest version crashes all the time, especially when marking all as read.

New update lost me

Ive been a daily IOS Digg user for years, but since the update, I barely open it anymore. Used to, it was a quick, tight headline read where I could scroll past tons of articles, now the headlines are so large and clean that you only scroll through a few before you reach the end.

Forces closes

Force closes.

Bring back text only

I used to read Digg all the time using the text only feature that would remove images and formatting from articles. It really helped when I had a slow connection. Now that function is removed, and it takes me way longer to access the articles I want to read. Please bring this functionality back. It was really useful.

Shows a lot of improvement

Enjoying the varied unique articles. Stability is great compared to the reviews. Great app to just find fun new things to learn.

Great content, major flaw

Ive been using the digg iOS app for a long time and love the content. This version, however, is really annoying because it loses my place in the feed anytime I rotate my phone - even if it is only rotated while in an article I have open. So when I close the article, I am like 15 headlines further into the feed than when I started. Its a small thing that really disrupts he experience enough that I open the app less often.

Buggy but still the best content

Yeah the new version is buggy. Biggest gripe, when i bookmark an article and check back later, I have no bookmarks saved. Oof. Some issues with video playback too - hiccups really. The interface is perfectly simple and easy to navigate though. I think people are a bit harsh in their reviews which is probably the only reason I chimed in. The reason I still use Digg on the regular is the content. Digg consistently delivers an awesome blend of articles ranging from pointless/hilarious to relevant/pressing. I love it and I check the app multiple times a day, regardless of the "unneeded" and buggy facelift.

Buggy Piece of ...

What was once a good RSS reader is today something that I dread to use. Random crashes, randomly cant open articles, buggy loading, crappy UI/UX, bugs everywhere. Seriously thinking about moving somewhere else. Only the Web UI is decent.

Lost quality

I had taken a break from Digg for several months. Im sad to see the state of the app now that Ive returned. Automatic-dark mode is gone. Digg Reader "Mark all as read" crashes the app. The whole Digg Reader experience feels a unstable. Not sure if there has been a loss of talent or a shift of focus away from the app, but I remain hopeful it will improve because I love the content.

Videos keep playing after you stop them

If you play a video, it keeps playing after you stop it. You have to close and restart the Digg app altogether. So annoying!

Dont support.

DIGG isnt what it used to be. No commenting. No user generated content. Plenty of advertisements. Chosen articles all very biased. The most DIGGs that Ive seen is usually around 30. When it was a REAL website, where users decided what to submit, sometimes things would have 10K + DIGGs. The new DIGG has failed.

Videos broken in latest update

They continue to play in the background when closing an article, or even closing the app. Seems like changes made to support PiP might have caused this. Needs to stop video when leaving article unless explicitly going into PiP.

Half finished features

The main issue I am having is that it will allow you to add folders to organize but then no way to actually move stuff into those folders. Im pretty savvy with this stuff, but if there is a way then it is really obscure. Id give it a good review but Ive also sent many emails asking about this and not even so much as a response. Thumbs down on what I thought was going to be a great replacement when Google Reader went away.

Update is unusable

This app has slowly gotten worse over time. Often crashes or freezes. Features lacking: -unbiased headline articles. All "featured" articles are sensationalist click bait -search in RSS -any remote form of stability.

Text only function is gone

The singular reason that I used digg app more than other similar apps is the Text only function. It loads fast with slow connection and has larger fonts. Now that it is gone and I will stop using this app. But I will keep any eye on whether the function will be back in future updates.

I used to love digg

but now the newest news is not at the top, so I have to hunt through news Ive already read to see new stories. If that got fixed I would say 5 stars.

Constantly Crashes

Enjoy the news feed and like having my RSS feeds, just wish it wouldnt crash so much.

If I could only give no stars

Was a great app, now it does not refresh and there is no text only version. Some people still read. Im deleting.

Very Informative

Digg is my go to app for up to date news, great stories, excellent videos and great recommendations for new products! Its a must have app!!
